Travel Q&A: Organized Trips to Burma, Cape Cod in the Fall

Q. My husband and I would like to visit Burma. The few organized trips we have found combine it with places we have already been to, such as Thailand and Vietnam. Do you know of any agency with a trip to Burma alone?

Travel agent should have made refund

We've asked the airline for a $1,100 refund — the price difference between first-class and economy-class tickets — but it won't budge. Cheaptickets.com sent a $400 voucher that we don't want. We've disputed the ticket charges with American Express, but it has denied our claim. It's obvious to us we didn't receive what we paid for. We've never sued anyone and I would rather not have to go there. Do you have any other suggestions?— Virginia Pozo, San Francisco

Travel Troubleshooter: Trying to play by travel-company rules? Beware

Kenneth Miller thought he had squirreled away more than 100,000 Delta Air Lines frequent-flier miles, which he planned to use for a 20th anniversary trip. He thought wrong. When he checked with the airline, it claimed he had no miles. "My balance was at zero," he says. "It turns out that even though I used to have points with no expiration date, Delta had made changes to its program, and because of inactivity on my account, my points were deleted."

Airlines, hotels fear Cisco's frugal travel policies may set trend

A snapshot of corporate travel for Cisco Systems Inc., which ranked among the top 25 for travel spending in 2008, can't be very encouraging for airlines and hotels hoping for a rebound in business travel.

After an overhaul of its policies and introduction of a new travel booking tool, the San Jose, Calif.-based company has cut nearly all travel for internal meetings and deeply cut its overall spending, which Travel Procurement magazine estimated at $300 million.
